J-Jaks hits pie-fecta with best pies for three years

-

IT’S the third year residents have voted J-Jaks Family Pies as the best in Toowoomba and there is a good reason why.

The store sells traditional, old-fashioned meat pies, with crispy pastry and flavour-packed meat.

The Chronicle asked its Facebook followers who sells the best pies in Toowoomba.

J-Jaks was voted the best closely followed by O’Donnell’s Bakehouse and CC’s on the Range Bakehouse.

The Waters family has run the pie shop on the corner of Hume and Perth Sts for almost eight years.

Shelley Waters said she didn’t except to win with so many other great pie shops in town.

“There have been a lot of new pie shops open in recent years and they all sell delicious food. Some specialising in gourmet pies,” she said.

“Sometimes I think I’d want to try something different like that but we just can’t get our customers away from the ordinary meat pies. It is just what everyone loves.

“The Aussie favourites are either plain meat, chunky steak, steak and pepper or steak, bacon and cheese.”

She said what made J-Jaks’ pies so tasty was that they were baked fresh every day; the meat as well as the pastry.

J-Jaks Family Pies is open six days a week from Monday through to Saturday.

It will be closed this Monday due to the public holiday.
