Filly out to accomplish feature mission

RACING: Toowoomba filly Accomplish has already won the stable battle to win a place in the field and tomorrow she’ll look to carry off the big prize when she steps out in the Toowoomba Truck Spares Pat O’Shea Plate (1000m).

Accomplish lines up in tomorrow’s opening race of the Queensland two-year-old racing season looking to maintain a 100% strike rate for Toowoomba trainer Michael Nolan in the Clifford Park feature.

Nolan was successful with Greyt Start in the inaugural Pat O’Shea Plate run for the first time in 2015 following the passing of Toowoomba racing stalwart Pat O’Shea.

Nolan didn’t have a runner in last year’s event won by his nephew Ben Currie with Pure Luck, but is hoping all the pieces are in place for Accomplish to strike.

Accomplish helped prepare for her Pat O’Shea bid with a barrier trial second placing behind dual trial winner Miracles Aplenty 11 days ago.

The Jet Spur youngster was one of three candidates Nolan initially aimed at the race for a syndicate of Gold Coast-based owners who have recently linked with the stable.

“We looked at yearlings at both the January and March Gold Coast sales and finished up with a Jet Spur colt in March,” Nolan said.

“The owners wanted to buy two more horses so we contacted Basil (Nolan) at Raheen and this filly was one of two we finished up purchasing from him.

“We initially aimed the three at the Pat O’Shea but we finished up putting the other two out while this filly kept going forward.

“She trialled nicely and has handled all the pressure along the way so here we are with hopefully a nice chance in the race.”

Toowoomba trainer John Zielke has bypassed the Pat O’Shea with Miracles Aplenty but will line up with Early Agreement and Hopes Eternal.
