Farming items go to auction

-

ACLAND Pastoral Company is auctioning off it surplus farming plant and equipment for a second time this year.

It will host an auction on Landmark’s online public auction site, Auctions Plus, on November 8 and 9.

Auction items will include windmills, ploughs and other farming implements.

A small number of surplus farm houses, sheds and silos will also be up for auction.

Acland Pastoral Farm manager Steve Erbacher said APC was hoping to consolidate its holdings, much of which was purchased as buffer land when New Acland Mine opened 15 years ago.

“Over the past couple of years Acland Pastoral has transitioned from fattening beef cattle into a cattle breeding and fodder cropping operation,” he said.

“Part of that transition meant upgrading our holdings with things like new fencing and a water pipeline network that feeds our watering troughs.

“Because our holdings were a number of smaller farms amalgamated into one large operation, some of the farming equipment we own is duplicitous and therefore surplus to our needs.”

Mr Erbacher said an online auction was the most equitable and transparent method of making the surplus equipment available to other local landholders.

“Potential buyers will be able to register for a site tour and inspection over four days in October and November,” he said.

“We’re running a bus out to our holdings so landholders can look at the items and decide what they’d like to place an offer on.

“The auction items come from the smaller farms that we have acquired over the years.”

Inspection dates will be held on October 25 and 26 and more information and auction items can be found at auctionsplus.com.au/auctions.
