Sign competition death waiver at hottest festival
A HEATWAVE is set to return to the Toowoomba region when businesses dedicated to chillies host an entire festival to knock your socks off.
A new chilli beer, chilli truffles and even chilli chocolate lip balm will be on offer during the Lockyer Valley event later this month.
The Murphys Creek Chilli Festival is expected to attract more than 2000 visitors with more than 70 vendors and international food trucks.
A favourite will be the Keen’s Chilli Con Carne Kitchen serving up vegetarian and mild to wild carnivore options in bamboo cones.
Chilli plants, seeds and chilli pods will be for sale along with art, sculpture, skincare, home-wares, jewellery and original gifts, like the chilli chocolate lip balm.
The Murphys Creek Tavern will run the pop-up bar, promising to cool people down and warm them up again with an exciting chilli drink menu including Scurvy Dog and Taipan pale ale.
Every vendor has a chilli product on offer, even the ice cream truck.
The festival will feature USQ science and organic gardening talks, live music, chilli jelly spoon races for all ages, charity raffles all day, kids colouring competition, pony rides, petting zoo and a silent art auction.
Event coordinator Jason O’Connor said the free charity event would raise funds for the tropical cyclone Debbie recovery effort.
“The highlight this year is the Seatonfire Chilli Chocolate Challenge at 2pm a death waiver needs to be signed to enter,” Mr O’Connor said.
Another Chilli Challenge has just been announced, stay tuned on Facebook for more details.
Challenge entries are now open on the Murphy’s Creek Chilli Festival 2017 Facebook page.
It will be held at Jessie Lane, Murphys Creek on Sunday, October 15 from 10am to 4pm.
