Free dental for unpaid carers

-

A TOOWOOMBA dental surgery is offering an unprecedented opportunity with free X-rays, exams and pain relief.

Maven Dental, in a show of support for unpaid carers across the country, will offer unpaid carers free dental services as part of National Carers Week on Sunday, October 15.

Maven Dental Tor St will open its doors out of regular hours to provide free dental exams, X-rays, teeth cleaning and a range of basic treatments at no cost as part of Maven Dental Day.

“Dental care is a basic health essential and something that our clinicians and their staff are well equipped to provide to those who don’t always take time out for themselves,” Maven Dental Group marketing general manager Sheridan Burke said.

“It’s a fact that carers earn less and give of their time to provide an integral service in our communities and we wanted to create an opportunity that supports them in a fundamental way.”

Services offered may include fillings, pain relief, cleaning and basic examinations and X-rays.

Complex treatments that require more than one visit, and cosmetic treatments are excluded but advice on government subsidies will be available.

Carers Australia CEO Ara Cresswell welcomed the initiative, adding unpaid carers often experienced financial hardship and social isolation as a result of their caring role.
