IT’S time to bring out your dirndls and lederhosens because Oktoberfest has arrived in Toowoomba.

With flowing pints of beer, pretzels and party-goers dressed in their best German outfits, the day will be the perfect ode to the world’s largest beer festival.

It will be held at Blank Space on Saturday from noon until 10pm.

Up until 4pm Oktoberfest will be a family-friendly event.

Publican Phil Coorey said Blank Space was made for Oktoberfest.

“We are going to have long decorated tables down the middle,” he said.

“We have a really great German menu with German schnitzels, kranskys and pretzels. There will be nine or 10 different beers - I am a sucker for variety.”

Guests are encouraged to dress up in the traditional Oktoberfest gear and there will be a number of activities, including a strong-arm competition, hat dance and bingo, which can be played all day by participating in events and drinking beer.

Mr Coorey expects about 300 people to attend.

“People may not remember but the first beer festival we hosted at The Cow 10 years ago was Oktoberfest,” he said.

“Everyone really got behind it back in the day. It seems it is still a popular event with more than 200 people already pre-booking tickets.”
