Choirs prepare for spring festival
THE choirs of the Toowoomba Choral Society are busily preparing for the society’s annual concert.
The Spring Festival of Music will feature the choral talents of the Toowoomba Choral Society Choir and Contemporary Choral and Youth Choir which are led by conductors Elizabeth Egan, Nerida Eckert and Vicki Bravery.
The choral performances will feature a variety of music for all tastes, including such favourites as Danny Boy and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, through to songs by Pink and the Pentatonix.
The concert will culminate in a massed choir performing How Can I keep from Singing and afternoon tea will be provided.
Ms Egan said it was a wonderful opportunity for the society to come together as one.
“We are delighted to perform a selection of beautiful and vibrant choral works for this spring concert, before the busy year draws to a close,” she said.
The Choral Society has had a very active schedule this year.
Apart from community and eisteddfod commitments, members have participated in a variety of performances including the Queensland Pops Orchestra Celtic Spectacular, a combined concert with Ipswich Orpheus Chorale, Choirs for Uganda concert as well as the stage productions Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sweeney Todd.
Tickets for Spring Festival of Music are $20 for adults, $10 for kids and $50 for a family.
It will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 2pm at Middle Ridge Uniting Church, 264 Stenner St.
