Top swimmers in Toowoomba

-

TOOWOOMBA Flyers Swimming Club tomorrow will host a swim meet that will see some of Australia’s fastest competitors competing.

Not often do we have three current Olympians and two Junior Australian swimmers competing in Toowoomba.

Toowoomba’s Jacob Whale and Kady Ibell will compete against Cam McEvoy, Mathew Stanley (NZ) and Madi Wilson.

The event will also feature rising Australian swimmer Elijah Winnington who competed with Jacob Whale recently at the Junior World Championships in August.

Toowoomba Flyer swimmer Jacob Whale who is coming out of a rest period to compete this weekend knows he has his work cut out.

“McEvoy is obviously a great swimmer. You don’t get to the Olympics if you’re not. I’m not at 100 per cent at the moment, being in a resting phase, but swimming in races of this strength, with my longer distance training, I hope to push him and the other swimmers all the way”.

McEvoy and Wilson, who are part of a very strong Bond University team, are nominated in two events each and likely to break some Toowoomba all-comer records should they swim to their personal best times.

The highlight of the meet will be the McDonalds Harristown Skins, where the eight fastest male and female swimmers will swim three knock-out races in concession with the remaining swimmers competing for cash.
