MOVIE: Clash Of The Titans SEVEN, 9.30pm, M (2010)
Aussie Sam Worthington squares off against Greek gods as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus (Liam Neeson), king of the gods, who swears revenge when his family is killed by underworld ruler Hades (Ralph Fiennes), the enemy of mankind. Watching over Perseus on his quest is ethereal spiritual guide Io (Gemma Arterton) but he’s on his own when faced with Hades’ deformed servant Acrisius (Jason Flemyng). French director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible
Hulk) employs plenty of stunning visual effects and climaxes with an aweinspiring finale in this affectionate remake of the 1981 original.
Getaway NINE, 5.30pm
If we could all follow in Livinia Nixon’s travelling footsteps, we’d be pretty content. The latest research on happiness suggests that travel is one of the best things we can do to put a smile on our dial; it’s the experiences, rather than things we buy, that count. For Nixon, travel “opens your mind and brings history, politics and different cultures to life”. And if there’s one country that is ripe for experiences and lessons in history, it’s Japan. Today, Nixon continues her trip through the scenic cluster of islands, from picturesque Mt Fuji to Nagoya, home of the Toyota Museum, and last, the hustle and bustle of Kyoto.
Gardening Australia ABC, 6.30pm
Tonight, it’s about more than the happiness of plants on Gardening
Australia, with a feel-good segment involving Costa (pictured). The bigbearded softie visits an aged-care home, where chooks are employed to improve the well-being of the residents. Jerry meets some miraculous foliage, visiting a garden where flowers prosper in the shade. Later, Sophie also explores a native botanic garden for threatened species, where the plants are thriving. It’s a sunny episode that’ll make you feel invigorated about helping your garden come into full bloom in time for summer.
