Kembla run a guide to where next for Go Daddy Go

- — Brad Davidson

A POTENTIAL trip to Melbourne goes on the line for Go Daddy Go when he makes his return to the track at Kembla Grange today.

The three-year-old hasn’t raced since winning the $125,000 TAB Clarendon Stakes (1300m) at Hawkesbury on April 29 and co-trainer Edward Cummings said today’s Class 2 Handicap (1200m) would give them a guide as to what to target with the colt this preparation.

“He has had three trials and he is a big gross colt and I thought his last trial was quite good,” Cummings said.

“Kembla should suit him and it’s his right grade and he should be running well.

“We will just wait and see what he does and we’re confident he has ability certainly against some good three-year-olds.

“I think his trajectory for the rest of the preparation will depend on how he runs (today) and if he runs as well as we hope perhaps he will have a run in Melbourne.

“If not we might stretch him out and try to pick off a few races here.”

Cummings said a decent spell has done Go Daddy Go the world of good.

“Physically, mentally he is just a bigger, stronger more confident animal now than he was back then,” he said.

“I think having had those three trials and a good bit of work in between he is just starting to grow up and realise what he is here for and that’s always pleasing when you have a big, gross colt like him.”

The Cummings team will also take Netherlands to the races for the first time in Race 6 today.

“He is a horse we have had a lot of time for,” Cummings said.

“He has always worked well and he has just taken some time to come to hand.

“His last trial was quite good and Tye (Angland) was really happy with it and he stays on.

“A big (track) like Kembla should suit him and it’s a comfortable grade for him.”
