Golf Darling Downs

The game at the City Golf Club was abandoned due to wet weather. The C &M Brittnel day, which was cancelled,will be held on Decemeber 11 at the City Golf Club. Wednesday, October 11 Burstows Funerals afternoon social bowls was won by Tony Collins, Brian Gleeson and Aileen Cox, while Trevor Gillies, Ray Weis and Les Chikos picked up second place. Many thanks to Burstows, and their representa­tive Peter Wenham, for the excellent prizes made available for the winners and runners-up. REMINDER: Annual subscripti­ons should be paid by September 30 each year, and are now overdue if you are yet to renew your membership for 2017-18. Don’t forget to nominate a triples team for the upcoming Tuesday Night Community Bowls starting on October 24. This competitio­n is aimed at those people who have never or hardly ever played bowls before. All prizes will be drawn out of the hat, and a continuous barbecue will be in full swing. Today is our usual men’s triples from 12.30pm. Visitors welcome please call 4639 2338 prior to 11.30am. Today’s Thursday ‘jackpot’ is $94.00 plus a dollar for each of today’s players, but you must be present to win. Club house and amenities will be open from 10am daily. We had a very successful fundraiser on Saturday for Epilepsy. No bowls were played but we had a pool competitio­n, raffles, $100 note boards plus face painting and games for the kids. Everybody enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the Thompson Families and their helpers for making this a great day. Because the semi-final of the Mixed Pairs could not be played on Sunday, October 15, can they be played this Sunday, October 22? The final of the Mixed Fours is to be played on Sunday, October 29, between Jon King’s team and Dean McCarthy’s team.
