Trip performs chamber music at final Twilight Concert
THE final Twilight Concert for 2017 at USQ Artsworx will be on Wednesday, October 25 at 6pm.
The USQ Alumni Trio, Matthew Henry (cello), Maree Kilpatrick (pictured, piano) and Nicola Hayden (flute) will take patrons on a musical journey through the Australian classical music world.
These three highly accomplished musicians are all Joyce Campbell-Lloyd Scholarship winners and will perform together at the last Twilight Concert to celebrate the USQ 25/50 anniversary.
The night will include a world premiere of a new celebratory work by Michael Bakrnchev, which was commissioned to commemorate USQ’s anniversary – 50 years in higher education and 25 years as a university.
A multi award-winning composer, Bakrncev is one of Australia’s most highly driven and successful young professionals in that field.
He has composed works for orchestras such as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
The USQ Alumni Trio will present a selection of classical works in celebration of USQ’s anniversary, including two works by Australian composer Mary Mageau, originally composed for the Brisbane Baroque Trio of which former USQ cello lecturer Gary Williams was a member.
The program also includes works by Eugene Goosens and Nikolai Kapustin’s trio in jazz style.
It will culminate in a celebratory world premiere of Streams of Silver, composed by Bakrncev who began his tertiary music studies at USQ and is now a lauded composer.
USQ has commissioned this work especially for this concert.A reception in the USQ Arts Gallery will follow the recital and refreshments will be served.
