CHOCOLATE fans lined up from 8am to be the first customers at Toowoomba’s new Max Brenner store.

The chocolate bar opened at 11am and by the time the opening celebrations were under way more than 500 people were lined up, waiting to get their hands on some sweet treats.

Over the course of the day 70kg of dark, milk and white chocolate were smashed into chunks and shared with customers.

Max Brenner general manager Yael Kaminski-Weiler also estimated the store handed out more than 1000 free hot chocolates.

“It is so cool to see this turnout. It’s crazy and I don’t think they are just here for the free chocolate. People are really excited we are finally open,” she said.

“Toowoomba has been on our radar for a long time. It is a growing city and we have had a lot of people message us asking when we were opening.

“We are ready and excited to bring our chocolate culture to Toowoomba.”

Karissa Gesler, Max Brenner’s ultimate chocolate fan who promised to exist on a diet of salad unless the

store came to our city, was the guest of honour and opened the doors with the chocolate ceremony and cutting of the ribbon.

“It just started out with me sending an email to Max Brenner where I tried to convince them to come to Toowoomba and I guess it worked,” she said.

“I am so excited, I could faint.”

Max Brenner is open seven days a week from 9am until late at Grand Central’s new dining precinct.
