Financial support for locals

-

TOOWOOMBA residents could be missing out on thousands of dollars of financial support without realising it.

Community services provider Churches of Christ Care is encouraging people to visit the Queensland Government’s new Smart Savings website and start claiming financial support they may not know they are eligible for.

The innovative new site lists all available concessions and rebates in the one place, with 17 categories including health, energy, transport, youth and seniors.

There are also a number of emergency payments available.

Churches of Christ Care’s director of seniors and supported living, Bryan Mason, hopes the site will support a number of vulnerable Queenslanders.

“We work with many people who are struggling to make ends meet and the information this website contains could make a real difference in their lives,” Mr Mason said.

“It’s a simple, one-stop solution that many Toowoomba locals could benefit from.”

Queensland Premier Anastacia Palasczcuk encouraged “every Queenslander” to look at the site.

“I think Queenslanders are feeling pressure at the moment,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“The electricity rebate is fantastic and we’ve extended that to Commonwealth Care card holders.

“An extra 147,000 people are eligible and only about 10,000 people have taken up that offer.”

Google “Smart Savings” or visit https://campaigns.premiers .qld.gov.au/smart-savings for more information.

Churches of Christ Care is one of the leading not-for-profit providers of services for seniors including retirement living, home and community care.
