A TOOWOOMBA hairdresser is one of 10 stylists Australia-wide chosen to be part of the Redken Young Tribe.

Air Hair Studio’s Carmen Rogers along with nine other emerging stylists are now taking part in a two-year talent program that offers mentoring by leading Redken artists to help further develop their skills.

Ms Rogers had to prepare a six-part submission, including personal details and a photo, letters of recommendation, a written submission, background information including a list of awards, career biography and a video submission.

Ms Rogers said the lengthy application process didn’t scare her off from applying, as it was propelling her one step closer to her goal of becoming a Redken educator.

“I have always wanted to be a Redken educator, it’s been my top goal for as long as I can remember,” she said.

“Now, with this initiative

❝When I was announced as one of the stylists taking part I cried.

— Carmen Rogers

I am one step closer. When I was announced as one of the stylists taking part I cried. I cried all day.”

The Redken Young Tribe team was announced at an event in Melbourne on Monday.

Now, over the next two years Ms Rogers will be mentored by national and international stylists.

She will still be based at Air Hair Studio but will also attend seminars and shows across Australia.

At the end of the program, opportunities are opened up to Ms Rogers including becoming a Redken educator or guest artist. The roles involve travelling the world working at fashion shows and educating the next round of upcoming stylists.

Ms Rogers is taking new clients. To book phone 4632 5511.
