New Golden Key members welcomed
THE University of Southern Queensland Golden Key international honour society chapter has welcomed its newest members at a ceremony in Toowoomba last week.
The annual Golden Key reception saw 188 new members inducted into the invitation-only group that has over two million members world-wide.
Invitation is extended to the top 15 per cent of university students in all fields of study based on academic achievement.
USQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor (students and communities) Carl Rallings said Golden Key provided USQ students with an opportunity to expand networks and develop their leadership and professional skills.
“A Golden Key Chapter adds to the vibrancy and diversity of university life, and is something that students can aspire to. There is also a strong focus on community service,” Mr Rallings said.
Inductee Kaitlin Campbell said she felt privileged to be a new member of the society just three weeks out from completing a Bachelor of Arts/Business at USQ.
“This is an amazing opportunity to build valuable connections with like-minded professionals around the world,” she said.
“I am proud to have worked hard for the past four years to be in the top 15 per cent of USQ students academically and to be recognised by Golden Key.
“I am extremely grateful to USQ for their support throughout my double degree. I would not be here if it weren’t for the dedication of my lecturers and USQ staff who have helped me throughout my USQ journey.”
The Golden Key USQ Chapter honorary members in 2017 were USQ executive director (international and development) Professor Talal Yusaf and executive officer for the social justice commission for the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba Mark Copland.
The USQ chapter was established in 2006, and has about 2000 members.
