Tropical escape

Award-winning home provides relaxing oasis.

-

“MAUNA View” was designed by world renowned architect Paul Clout and this stunning masterpiece sits in a very private location on the south-eastern corner of Toowoomba’s range escarpment.

The resort-like residence reflects influences from tropical Queensland, Asian and South Pacific architecture.

The residence was designed to take full advantage of the magnificent views and the striking pool that incorporates a 25-metre curved wet edge giving the appearance of a mass of water spilling over into the mountains.

The residence is spread out over three wings, which are linked by a series of floor to ceiling curved glass windows and a sandstone bridge that crosses two ponds that run through the house.

The resort-like feel to the residence is created by a series of water features including bubbling pots and stone water falls that are strategically placed through out three internal courtyards that have been landscaped with an abundance of tropical plants to create a tropical rainforest effect that can be viewed from almost every room in the house.

All ponds and water features are linked together and run through the same filtration system as the swimming pool.

Extensive use of louvres and soaring six-metre high ceilings to all living areas with clear story louvre windows above negate the need for use of any air-conditioning during those warmer summer days and nights.

Natural elements such as timber, sandstone, travertine, marble and New Zealand schist stone have been used extensively throughout the residence to give it a feeling of warmth in winter.

An entertainer’s delight or weekend of relaxation is easily achieved by opening all nine-foot high bi-folding doors to games, living and master bedrooms and sliding outdoor living timber stacker doors back to leave an unobstructed 11m opening, creating the feeling the entire outdoor terrace, pavilion and kitchen has been brought inside.

The kitchen is fitted with quality Miele appliances including a conventional oven, steam oven, microwave, induction cooktop, integrated dishwasher, fridge and freezer; there is also a butlers pantry with an integrated dishwasher, fridge, freezer, gas cooktop, microwave, oven and a coffee machine.

The outdoor area is complete with a wood-fired pizza oven amd outdoor kitchen set in imported New Zealand schist stone.

The five bedrooms are all in a separate wing; the master suite is an absolute delight with a sumptuous ensuite with double spa bath, walk-in shower with dual shower heads, and double vanity.

The remaining three children’s bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and a desk.

They are serviced by a family bathroom, which is equipped with a walk-in shower, separate bath and toilet.

A guest bedroom features an ensuite, built-in wardrobe and private entrance.

The home boasts another shower off the laundry, which is ideal for getting home from a sweaty visit to the gym or doing the yard work.

This wing boasts a children’s activity wing with plenty of storage for games and toys.

The home features 100,000 litres of underground rainwater storage.

Cbus smart wiring has been used extensively throughout the house with a series of colour touch-screens used to control lighting, blinds, curtains, audio, security, air-conditioning and irrigation systems.

The home has two double lock-up garages, which include remote-controlled doors.

Communication from the front gate throughout the house and down to lower lawn areas is by an intergrated intercom system; five separate video cameras provide 24-hour surveillance of the residence.
