Telstra apologises after fault affects thousands

-

TELSTRA believes it has fixed a problem that plagued thousands of handsets in Toowoomba yesterday.

A spokesman for the company said the fault with 3G mobile phone calls was identified at 10.45am, with full service restored at 12.04pm.

“For approximately 80 minutes (yesterday) some Telstra customers in the Toowoomba area may have experienced issues making 3G voice calls and using data. 4G services were not impacted,” he said.

“Telstra technicians identified and repaired a technical fault located in Woolloongabba Exchange that was impacting local 3G mobile services.

“This service will be closely monitored over the next few days to ensure it continues to operate effectively.

“Telstra apologises for any inconvenience caused to local residents during this time.”

According to complaints from users, the issue surrounds phone calls to other mobiles, where the call can be made but no sound can be heard.

Plenty of Toowoomba residents voiced their anger on The Chronicle’s Facebook page.

“Typical Telstra, too bad if you are trying to get onto someone for something important!” Anthony Sturgeon wrote.

“Telstra needs to sort out their issues, this is constantly happening in our area! Telstra makes huge profits, how about putting it back into updating their infrastructures?” Tonia Redman added.
