We have to ask who we trust

- news@thechronicle.com.au

TOOWOOMBA North will be a key seat when voters go to the polls on November 25.

Trevor Watts, the sitting LNP member, and the ALP’s Kerry Shine who has held the seat in the past, are among candidates for Toowoomba North, one of the marginal electorates that could determine who wins government.

Candidates in both Toowoomba North and Toowoomba South have identified cost of living pressures and employment as among the issues for voters.

Power costs are certainly a burden for many families these days - a situation that seems ridiculous in an energy-rich state like Queensland.

Voters will no doubt be also concerned about health and education. Others may wonder why state debt remains stubbornly high, while the Adani mine may prove divisive in some electorates.

Election analysts will be interested in the strength of the One Nation vote and whether the major parties can form government in their own right or whether One Nation will hold the balance.

Annastacia Palaszczuk has asked the electorate to trust her government and says the ALP has a proven track record.

LNP leader Tim Nicholls says the ALP government is stuck and the state can’t afford another three years of its leadership.

A key question for voters going forward is who we trust to run our state.

For whoever wins, there remains important work to be done.
