City moves clear at top of EPL table

MANCHESTER City maintained its five-point lead at the top of the English Premier League with a hard-fought 3-2 win at West Brom.

Leroy Sane put the leaders in front only for Jay Rodriguez to equalise soon after. Fernandinh­o regainsed the lead for City when his shot deflected in off Gareth Barry.

Substitute Raheem Sterling (pictured) sealed the win with a third after the break before Matt Phillips scored a consolatio­n goal in injury time for the home team.

Manchester United moved second after a goal from substitute Anthony Martial proved the difference against fellow title-chasing Spurs.

Aresnal moved to within a point of Spurs in fourth after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Swansea at the Emirates.

Bottom club Crystal Palace salvaged a point with a last-gasp Wilfried Zaha equaliser in a 2-2 thriller with West Ham at Selhurst Park,

Liverpool bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Tottenham to beat Huddersfie­ld 3-0.

Daniel Sturridge broke the deadlock after the break and there were further goals from Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Reigning champions Chelsea in turn went level on points with Arsenal after Eden Hazard’s 51st-minute goal proved decisive in a 1-0 win away to second-from-bottom Bournemout­h.

Darren Fletcher’s first goal for Stoke was enough to secure the Potters a much-needed 1-0 victory over Watford.
