Kail Eustace and Kiarna McDonough have bright futures and they’re ready to take the next step.

The Harristown State School students will head to the Pacific Schools Games in Adelaide later this year after their recent successes at the state titles.

Eustace, who will compete in the Athletes With Disabilities category, will feature on the track after winning four gold medals at the titles.

The 10-year-old won gold in the 100m (15.23secs), 200m (32.06), 4x 100m relay and the long jump (3.84m).

The quietly spoken Eustace said he had always loved running.

“It has always been one of my favourite things to do. I love everything about it,” he said.

Aside from his time on the track and running at school Eustace said his favourite “races” were against his family.

“I have two brothers and one sister. We race a bit, and it’s always close.”

On the netball courts McDonough will be looking to emulate her idol Laura Geitz.

The 11-year-old, who plays goal attack, shooter, defence and keeper, will line up for the 12/13 Budgies Indigenous Netball team.

“Laura (Geitz) is a great player. I’d love to be able to play like her and represent Australia one day,” she said.

McDonough’s love for netball doesn’t stop with her idols though.

“I love netball because it’s a great team sport and you get to meet so many new people and make friends.”

To help with the cost of attending the games the students’ parents have set up GoFundMe pages.
