No coalition with One Nation: LNP

-

TIM Nicholls has popped up on FM radio to introduce himself to the voting public.

Responding to the team’s insistence on referring to him as “Timmy”, Mr Nicholls said the only person who called him that was his mother.

“You don’t look anywhere near as good as she does,” he said.

The LNP leader used the light-hearted interview to reveal his daughter Katie’s favourite artist was Adele, that he “thinks” he’s on Instagram and that he lost his dog Bango two weeks ago.

Asked if he was ever tempted to reply to Twitter trolls as US President Donald Trump did, especially after a few drinks, he said he had a rule of “eight hours between bottle and throttle”.

On a more serious matter, he repeated his promise that there would be “no deals, no coalition, no room at the cabinet table” for One Nation in a Nicholls government.

But he left open the possibility of accepting supply from a One Nation crossbench to form government.

“We’ll take the vote of the people as it’s delivered and that’s what we’ve got to do, that’s our obligation as elected representatives,” he said. “That’s the people’s will.” Two more MPs will be spared a challenge from One Nation at the November 25 election, Labor’s Leanne Linard and the LNP’s Sid Cramp.

One Nation state leader Steve Dickson has revealed the party will not challenge those two MPs because he has worked with them and believes they have done good work for their communities.

Mr Dickson has said the party will preference most sitting MPs last on One Nation’s how-to-vote cards.
