YOU GLOW GIRL

BE THIS SUMMER’S GOLDEN CHILD WITHOUT ENDURING THE SUN’S WRATH

- WORDS: SALLY COAT ES

Aradiant summer glow can be the best beauty accessory, giving the face a gorgeous golden filter.

What’s not so gorgeous is sunburn and dry skin, so don’t slack on the SPF and instead give the money-maker a helping hand by applying shimmery golden bronzers that’ll make your skin sing.

While bronzer can be intimidating (nobody wants to resemble C-3PO from Star Wars)

Yvette Hess, creator and owner of PONi cosmetics, has a few tips for nailing the golden glow, starting with the right product.

“Bronzer is used to add warmth, dimension and glow to your skin,” she says.

“It is a perfect product to throw on when you feel like you need to give yourself a little confidence boost.

“We made our bronzer, Unicorn Chocolate, in a way that it’s super easy to use for the everyday lady.

“You can use this kind of product on the eyes, nose, hairline and cheeks – it’s super versatile.”

That versatility shines through when you consider you can use bronzer for an all-over glow or as a face contour, just be sure to have the right brushes.

“Change your brush size depending on what you’re trying to achieve,” Yvette says.

“A simple blush brush can add a beautiful, natural all-over glow but you can switch to a smaller or firmer brush to add some contour to the cheeks and around the hairline.

“You can also achieve this by squeezing your blush brush at the base of the bristles, which makes the bristles firmer and condensed and saves you from buying another brush.

“The fluffier the brush the more your bronzer gets dispersed. The firmer the brush, the more concentrated the colour application will be.

“Remember that when using a dense brush your colour will be darker, so be a bit more careful that you don’t turn your face brown.”

The versatility doesn’t stop there – that shimmering golden hue can make your eyes shine too.

“Bronzer can even be used as eyeshadow,” Yvette says.

“I find most bronzers are a gorgeous golden brown, which is flattering on every eye colour.

“You can use a simple eyeshadow brush or even your finger (when desperate) to apply some to the eyes. It really is one of those make-up bag essentials.”
