City dancers will bring productions to life

-

TOOWOOMBA’S Dance Central students will bring two exceptional productions to the Empire Theatre stage with the junior school’s Under the Sea and the senior school’s Sleeping Beauty.

Dance Central principal Alison Vallette said Under the Sea was a culmination of 12 months hard work from more than 200 young students.

“They are joined on stage by Velocity, Dance Central’s performance company and selected guest artists from our senior school,” Ms Vallette said.

Under the Sea follows the story of Pirate Pete, who gets washed out to see by Cyclone Caroline while searching for hidden treasure.

Sleeping Beauty will encompass the time honoured story of Aurora who is cursed by the wicked fairy Carabosse.

“With our strong senior school classical dancers, we will present repertoire choreography of this classic tale, along with the fabulous talents of our jazz, tap, drama and music theatre students,” Ms Vallette said.

“This year three of our leads have been successful in their audition for the Sydney Dance Company pre-professional year, along with the achievements of our other senior dancers who have successfully achieved high accolades within their chosen dance fields.

Under the Sea performs in the Empire Theatre this Saturday at 1pm and Sleeping Beauty will be on stage on December 2, at 1pm and 6pm.
