Bowlers urged to get behind carnival
LAWN BOWLS: North Toowoomba Bowls Club is gearing up for one of its prestige events this weekend.
NTBC will host the Grundon Fours Bowls Carnival.
The Grundon name is well known among Toowoomba lawn bowls circles with family patriarch Kevin and his sons Jason and Wade winning numerous North Toowoomba and intra-club titles and have enjoyed success in other forms of the game.
Jason and Wade have been Darling Downs Bowls Association Singles Champion of Champions and Jason has represented Queensland on a number of occasions.
“The Grundon Fours carnival has over 25 years history in Toowoomba bowls and to be the naming rights sponsor of such a prestigious event is part of K & R Plumbings way of giving back to the community and supporting sport, particularly bowls,” K & R Plumbing Supplies principal and NTBC member Randy Krause said.
There is a limit of 32 teams to contest the carnival and only a few team places remain with $5000 prize money to be won over the course of the weekend.
The competition will consist of five games of Fours over the two days, with each game played over 16 ends or 2 hours 20 minutes. Scoring will be wins plus margins.
The winners will take away $2000 while the runner-up team will pocket $900. Third place is $600; fourth place $500 and fifth place $400. Saturday and Sunday winning teams will collect $300. To ensure a spread of the prize money, any team can only win one prize.
Entry is $240 per team ($60 per player) with lunch provided both days. To enter or for further information phone
