Funding injection for CCTV cameras

-

A FUTURE LNP government would invest $145,000 in security cameras across the electorate of Toowoomba North.

LNP candidate for Toowoomba North, Trevor Watts, yesterday announced funding for the CCTV installations and upgrades, which would be rolled out across the electorate, including at the Captain Cook Recreational Reserve BMX track and the Rockville Sports Ground.

Included within the $145,000 promise is $50,000 for new CCTV cameras and $75,000 to upgrade 10 City Safe cameras from analogue to digital, allowing local police to quickly identify and respond to antisocial behaviour.

Former Toowoomba BMX Club president David Budden welcomed the CCTV installations and upgrades.

“We’ve had numerous break-ins over the last few years and these cameras will just give us that peace of mind,” Mr Budden said.

“It’ll stop the break-ins. Our volunteers work very hard to keep the club going, to raise money to buy equipment, then somebody comes along and steals it.”

“(Trevor’s) tireless representation on our behalf has delivered world class equipment for all members, accommodating those seeking to compete at

highest levels to kids just wanting to have a go.”

Mr Watts was proud to announce the “significant investment” community safety.
