ARCH ANGEL

BOAST BEAUTIFUL BROWS WITH ADVICE FROM THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS

- WORDS: SALLY COATES

Eyebrows can make or break your look – just ask Cara Delevingne. Celebrity brow specialist Sharon Lee, who has perfected the arches of Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce, the Olsen twins and members of One Direction, says making sure yours flatter your face is a science.

“Good brows are the right brows for that particular face,” she says.

“Everything from age, colouring, skin tone, depth, height and prominence of features to how you move your face is very relevant in the process of determining what’s needed.”

Aside from not overplucking – which should be common knowledge by now ladies (seriously, put down the tweezers!) – Sharon has an unexpected tweezing tip.

“It’s more important to tweeze from above than from beneath,” she says. “What this means is a lot of brow definition comes from above the brow, rather than below, even if there are fewer hairs there. Just a few plucks can make all the difference.”

Colour is crucial, too.

“The very best shape can be dampened by being too dark or too light,” Sharon says.

While hue depends on you, there is one follicular faux pas that should be on the brow ban list.

“Round brows never – I repeat, never – work,” Sharon says.

Make sure that brow has an arch. It’s how nature intended it.

Unless you’re particularly blessed, you’ll be slowly learning about tricks and tools to accentuate what genetics gave you.

“I’m a fan of plain old Vaseline for gloss and nourishing the brows, as well as helping hold the hair in place,” Sharon says.

“I believe in investing in quality colour products and tools.

“Our 10x Magnetic Mirror is a must for maintenance, ensuring you can remove new growth as soon as it breaks the skin.”

Good-quality tweezers are also a must. Most people have found the pair they swear by, but if you’re still on the hunt, try the Tweezerman range from David Jones.

Experiment with products designed to keep brows looking perfect between appointments, including brushes for tidying, brushes and brow powder for filling, and filler pencils.

Sharon will be embarking on a national eyebrow tour in December. For details go to sharonleeinc.com
