1. St Andrew’s Night

The Toowoomba Caledonian Society and Pipe Band has organised a big night celebratin­g all things Scottish including dancing, music and a delicious supper.

Enjoy Highland displays and have a turn on the dance floor.

2. Book sale

WHEN: Today, 8am-4pm and tomorrow 8am-2pm WHERE: Highfields Cultural

Centre

THE Highfields Friends of the Library group has a bumper book sale organised, so come along and get your summer holiday reading sorted ahead of time.

Fill a bag for $5 - you can bring your own plastic/green bag or use those provided.

There will be all genres of fiction, non-fiction, young adults, junior, picture books, magazines, etc.

Proceeds from the sale will help fund workshops and activities facilitate­d by the Highfields Library.

3. Hospice Christmas Carols

WHEN: Tomorrow, 5-7pm WHERE: Toowoomba Hospice, O’Quinn St, Harristown

Come and enjoy the 13th Christmas carols at the Hospice with the Toowoomba Municipal Band and High Altitude Harmony performing.

There will be food and drinks on sale so bring the

family, a blanket or chair.

Santa will be making a special visit about 6pm.

4. Seed to Feed

WHEN: Today, 9am-noon WHERE: Toowoomba Community Organic Gardens, 22A Goggs St

THERE’S nothing like the satisfacti­on of growing your own food.

Come along to a half day workshop by local horticultu­rist Brian Sams to learn how to grow your own fruit and vegetables in backyard gardens, patches and pots.

5. Brews and Barbie Bash

WHEN: Today, noon-10pm WHERE: Toowoomba Showground­s

YOU’LL think you’ve died and gone to heaven at the inaugural Toowoomba Brews and Barbie Bash.

Enjoy a day of street food, craft beer, boutique whiskeys

and estate wines, all to the beat of live music.

There will also be eating competitio­ns for those who are game as well as the ABA Barbecue Battle.

6. Milne Bay’s 20th Birthday

WHEN: Tomorrow, noon-5pm WHERE: Milne Bay Aquatic and Fitness Centre

MILNE Bay Aquatic and Fitness is hosting a family fun day to celebrate 20 years.

There will be a DJ and entertainm­ent by Krazy Kevin, jumping castle, fun water games, competitio­ns, giveaways, a cake cutting and tours of the pump rooms.

For a gold coin you can also enjoy a barbecue.

Bring the family and enjoy the day’s events.

Normal entry cost and rules apply.

7. Mini steam train rides

WHEN: Tomorrow, 10am-2pm WHERE: Highfields Pioneer Village

COME and ride Myrtle May the miniature steam train or enjoy a vintage bus ride on Henry the Model T Ford Bus built in 1924.

There is billy tea and damper, drinks and ice-blocks available and a sausage sizzle at lunch time.

8. Fantasy and Fairytales

COME along and join Aspire Dance Academy for an exciting afternoon of ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and contempora­ry dance.

Be entertaine­d by a mystical assortment of songs and dances in the second half of the performanc­e.

9. Christmas Handmade Market

WHERE: Danish Flower Art, New England Hwy, Highfields

STALLHOLDE­RS for Danish Flower Art’s Christmas Handmade Art and Craft Market were given the brief to focus on Christmas arts and crafts and they didn’t disappoint.

Pick up a bevy of Christmas gifts, try some Danish glogg (mulled wine), rice pudding with cherry sauce, smorrebrod (buttered rye bread with toppings), and beautiful traditiona­l Danish meals, sweets & biscuits.

10. The Handmade Expo

WHEN: Tomorrow, 9am-2pm WHERE: Harristown State High School Auditorium

WHETHER it’s made, baked or grown, the Handmade Expo markets aim to bring the best of local artisans and crafters to Toowoomba.

This one is just in time for Christmas, so come along and pick up some beautiful, one-off gifts for friends and family.

The event has free entry and free parking.
