TOOWOOMBA South MP David Janetzki said he was “honoured” to learn he would serve a full term in parliament, after earning a strong first preference vote in the state election.

The ALP finished second on the primary vote.

TOOWOOMBA South MP David Janetzki said the chance to serve his electorate for a full term in parliament would be “the greatest privilege”.

The LNP candidate, who won the seat at a by-election in 2016, has confirmed he will most likely be the member after polling strongly in the safe conservative seat.

With more than 65 per cent of the vote counted, Mr Janetzki holds nearly 45 per cent of the primary vote, well ahead of the ALP’s Susan Krause and One Nation’s Jeremy Scamp.

“It is the greatest privilege you can have to serve your people in the parliament (and) I commit to giving my all for the term ahead,” he said.

“It’s something that fills me with enthusiasm to keep delivering for the electorate and I never take it for granted.”

With the likelihood of the LNP serving in opposition growing as the votes roll in, Mr Janetzki said his approach to the role would still be the same.

“We need all the final votes counted, and when

those votes are counted, we’ll have to sit down and have a long consideration about the outcomes and

press ahead with the LNP’s vision for progressing and growing and delivering key projects for our region.

“No matter what happens in the next week, my job remains the same.”
