Progressive neurological disease wellbeing centre for Toowoomba

-

RESIDENTS of the Toowoomba region living with progressive neurological diseases (PND), like multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and Huntington’s will benefit from a new PND Wellbeing Centre that will combine support coordination, information and neurological physiotherapy.

The new PND Wellbeing Centre is located at 10 Russell St and officially opens on December 7, and will house registered NDIS providers MS Queensland NeuroPhysio and SPARKNeuroCare.

The new centre will include a fully equipped gym for neurological physiotherapy.

Neurological physiotherapists like MS Queensland NeuroPhysio’s Stephen Ryder are trained and experienced in the treatment of people who have experienced a neurological disorder such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s disease.

NeuroPhysio and SPARK NeuroCare will be co-located at the PND Wellbeing Centre which expands on the work that MS Queensland has been doing for the past 15 years in Toowoomba.

SPARK NeuroCare brings together support workers, knowledge and expertise of six not for profits — Epilepsy Queensland Inc, Huntington’s Queensland, Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland Inc, MND and Me Foundation Ltd, MS Queensland and Youngcare — to assist people with progressive neurological diseases and their families to navigate the NDIS system.

“We offer one point of contact to navigate local health systems and services — assisting with accessing NDIS funding and providing service coordination to access supports that reduce the impact of your condition on your life,” says SPARK NeuroCare Service Coordinator Janice Wheeler.
