AN OASIS IN THE GARDEN CITY

The Springs Garden World offers more than just a nursery

-

Since 1998, The Springs Garden World has been an integral part of the Toowoomba garden scene, providing inspiration and quality products in the gorgeous surrounds of its Spring Street complex.

Boasting four distinct departments — nursery, furniture, gift shop and popular café — the centre continues to set the bar in both variety and excellence.

And that hasn’t happened by accident.

Owners Ashley and Marie McEwan are continually working on their expansive oasis to ensure it still provides those ‘wow’ moments for every customer who walks in their front door.

“You need to change with the times,” Ashley said.

“You need to watch trends and keep up to date.”

Marie agrees.

“Ashley is constantly bringing in magazines featuring unique art works or style ideas — it allows us to see what is popular and where new trends are going,” she said.

One of the ways the McEwans keep The Springs Garden World fresh is by getting out of their own backyard and visiting garden centres around the country and overseas.

It proves great inspiration and a valuable barometer to see how they are faring against other industry leaders when it comes to innovation and design.

“England is amazing,” Ashley said.

“Take our property and multiply it by 10 — that’s how big these places are. They’re like mini shopping centres.”

“Seeing how the larger organisations do it reinforces our philosophy that you must create a destination to give people an outing and they’ll enjoy it as an experience rather than just going shopping.”

The McEwan’s son Cameron has been a part of the business since he was nine and now, as store manager, oversees the biggest range of indoor/outdoor furniture this side of Brisbane.

“Christmas/December is a huge month,” Cameron said.

“It all becomes about outdoor living with nicer days and warmer weather,” he said.

“It’s a chance to get a setting to impress your neighbours, family and friends during Christmas celebrations.

“We have a more exclusive range and our settings are built from quality materials — so, they’re both stylish and something that you know is going to last.”

He said the centre covers all bases with a wide range of complementary items such as table runners, candles, rugs, umbrellas and even wall art to ensure your indoor/outdoor area makes the perfect statement.

The green spaces of The Springs Garden World are equally impressive with an incredible selection of statues, water features and every conceivable type of pot stretching throughout the nursery.

Everywhere you turn you’ll discover a new range of easy-to-care-for plants and ready-to-go succulents.

“We even offer a service where you choose the pot and the plants you like and we can put them together for you,” Ashley said.

With nine knowledgeable and helpful staff on site, The Springs Garden World has the products and advice to make a real impact in your home this Christmas.

“Nurseries become destination centres — the good ones become diversified and that leads to success,” Ashley said.

“And, as an added attraction, we found the best have a good café — and we certainly have that.”

“I think it’s important to thank the community for their support,” Marie adds.

“They’ve been wonderful over the years visiting the centre and being a part of our lives the past 19 years.”

If you’re looking for something special this Christmas, be sure to visit The Springs Garden World at 333 Spring Street, Toowoomba.
