A TOOWOOMBA mum who almost lived every parent’s worst nightmare is urging the community to be vigilant and reiterate the stranger-danger message with children.

The woman told of the terrifying moment her daughter was approached by two men on the footpath near their Drayton home on Tuesday afternoon.

She said the men tried to snatch the girl, 5, from her tricycle after trying to lure her away with lollies.

“(The girl) screamed out ‘no, no, no’ and as she was trying to ride away from them on her tricycle, the other man grabbed her by the feet and grabbed her bike,” the post read.

“He tried to stop her from getting away and take her.”

The young girl’s siblings were nearby with a neighbourhood friend and helped her.

The men were on foot, according to the woman.

“Please be vigilant … it happens so quickly,” the woman urged.

“Things like this should never happen but it does.

“Don’t think it may never happen to you or your children, it can.”

The mother said she was grateful to the stranger-danger message and Daniel Morcombe Child Safety program which taught her children what to do when approached by unknown people.

“Enforce safety rules with your children and empower them to look out for themselves and others,” she wrote.

The recount of the ordeal was posted on social media late Tuesday night and was shared hundreds of times before being deleted.
