BEAUTIFUL posies of flowers are raising money for a terrible disease striking young boys like little Paddy Matchett.

Paddy, three, was diagnosed last year with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a severe form of the disease with no cure. It primarily affects boys.

His grandmother Tracey Matchett wanted to do something to help and started selling posies of flowers at farmers’ markets under the name Permaculture Posy with two other grandmothers.

The flowers are grown from seeds in their backyards and all money raised goes straight to charity Save Our Sons, which raises money specifically for Duchenne.

“You do feel so useless. But this gets you out of bed in the morning,” she said.

“He is a beautiful happy little boy. All we want is for him to be happy every day.”

Paddy’s muscular dystrophy was detected in a blood test after he was not walking. It gradually wastes and weakens the muscles.

His mother Holly Matchett will join the three ladies selling the posies at Cobb and Co’s Hand Made Under the Stars market tonight.

“We are there for Paddy and the boys with muscular dystrophy,” she said.

“Most boys end up wheelchair bound by late primary school.”

Twilight artisan market, Hand Made Under the Stars, is on tonight from 4pm to 8pm.
