Cabarlah Ladies

On Tuesday, November 28 we played a Stableford Competitio­n using three clubs and a putter. Each player chose their preferred clubs for the event, and some surprising­ly good scores were achieved, making one wonder why we have a full bag of clubs in the first place! No, not serious, it was an exception. We enjoyed a fun day, leading up to Christmas, and splendid trophies were donated by Chris Tannock. Winner today was Petae Frazer with a score of 42 points. Second was Pamie Campbell with 35 points. Third was Connie Harrison with 34 points. Run down: Hazel Black 33, Jessella McConnell 31 and Linda Ryan 30. Four pins were competed for and won, being 1/1 Pamie Campbell, 2/10 Jessella McConnell, 4/15 Pamie Campbell and 4/8 Petae Frazer. Next Tuesday, December 5, we will be playing a Single Stableford for Club Trophies.

Men’s Bowls Associatio­n

The Associatio­n Singles Championsh­ip were played at the weekend although numbers were down quality bowlers participat­ed in the event. Section winners played off in the semi- finals where J.Stephens df J.Singh, and J.Rynne df N.Appleton. Young Jake the 13-year old-wonder was able to go on and df Josh 25/10. Jake is now the holder of the District Champion of Champion Singles. The Zone Group 3 Champion of District Championsh­ip Singles and now the Associatio­n Singles Championsh­ip, Congratula­tions Jake, I don’t think this fete would have been done by anyone in Australia by somebody so young.

Our “Come and Try” bowls afternoon was well attended with approximat­ely 40 players taking to the green. It was a great afternoon and the Committee hopes to get some new bowlers from the day. Squash Club 33

The first round of semi-finals produced high level squash and very closely contested matches, with the winners not decided until after the final matches of the night. Pisces (two matches, 12 games) defeated Taurus 2 – 8, Gemini 2 – 11 defeated Libra 2 – 9 and Aries 2 – 10 - 233 points defeated an unlucky Virgo 2 – 10 – 210 points. This Thursday, Taurus plays Gemini and Pisces plays Aries, with the two winners to meet in the grand final the following Thursday. Good luck to all teams.
