Changes to their junior competition have produced good results for the Toowoomba Softball Association.

After a slight drop in player numbers recently TSA opted to change their under-13, 15 and 17 competitions to a mixed format and TSA president Katrina Geirke was happy with the outcome.

“Normally we have enough numbers to have boys and girls competitions,” Geirke said.

“But that isn’t the case this year so we changed to mixed and the result has been pleasing.

“There are no scheduled byes and there is an even mix of talent among the teams.

“Even with the mix of boys and girls there is no one dominant team in any of the competitions.

“They’re all in with a shot and very competitive.”

Junior players will be in action this weekend before a break for the holiday season until the end of January.

Geirke said interested players could sign up for the “new season”.

“Any young players that are interested can sign up and play in the next season that starts in the new year,” she said.

“We have plenty of teams who are always looking for players.”
