WHERE TO CATCH A BITE

- with Kris George from Fish ‘n’ Bits Bait & Tackle

CRESSBROOK DAM

Cressy has produced some good bass this week.

Many either early morning or on sunset with a few during the day.

Several have been caught on the Nories Bait Bass Tail Spinners, cast then with a slow retrieve.

Still hovering around the 30ft regions.

Some plastics have picked up several as well as spoons and tail spinners.

COOBY DAM

Yellows are still going well at Cooby, many first time kayakers have found to be the best safest dam to try out their new hobby.

The calm waters and no petrol boats is ideal for a relaxing time on the water.

Most people have had great catches of yellow bellies on the Nories ZX40, TN60 Jackall’s as well as salt water yabbies, worms etc.

Most fish are still hovering around the 25ft mark with the visibility being really high, they hide a little bit into the weed, but working along the weed edges with a slow retrieve or even bobbing has given some really good result.

SOMERSET DAM

Somerset dam has produced great fish again with some of the good days of the past week seeing many fish having a go at most lures and baits put near them.

Finding them on sounders has been pretty easy.

The same spots as normal, Kirkleigh Timbers, Queen St, Spit, Pelican Point etc are still showing good results.

Spoons of all varieties and Tailspinners are doing really well.

LESLIE DAM

Leslie was a little tougher this past week with some strong winds coming through and shutting a few sessions down.

But there were still some good catches reported in different regions of the dam.

Cod ally saw some small Cod being caught and released on Masked Vibs.

Right down the back of the dam at Blackboys some decent YellowBelly caught on ZX40s as well as Nories and some hardbodies.

Live shrimp also did well in the same spot.

COOLAMUNDA DAM

Coolamunda slowed down a little with the weird weather changes over the dam the last few days.

For those that still put in the time they were rewarded with some great Cod around the back of Macintyre Brook area as well as tight along the timbers using spinnerbaits.

Several anglers had used Kezza ‘MudMouse’ had been

rewarded with some great catches on multiple occasions.

Several people even ’bobbed with TN 60s ‘Brown Dog’ and caught good size yellows along the buoy line.

They let the lure sink almost to the bottom then bob in stages to allow it to rest at different levels for a few seconds on the way up.

GOLD COAST

South Port is going well with plenty of Flat head, Bream and Whiting still being caught all over the region.

Reports of jacks being picked up along Sundale rocks up Nerang river etc

are still coming in with a few being caught around the rocks and up in mangroves around Coomera River

around Jacobs Well.

There are still some good schools of Jew swimming about all over the region and

some good reports of pan size Snapper being caught around the rocks north of Jacobs Well.
