Cricket Central Downs

The story of the round is Oakey’s first win, smashing ladder leaders Millmerran thanks mainly to a massive 5th wicket stand of 186 between Jordan Wikaike (160 not out) and little brother Jacob 76. The home side was in trouble batting first at 4 for 28, Jimmy Sinclair taking 3-14 in 3 overs but there was not much joy for next 30 overs as the brothers got down to work. Oakey finished 5 for 292, B Webb 16 and K Charles 10 not out.

Millmerran then struggled after a bright start losing their first wicket in the 5th over for 30 runs and were all out for 139 in the 29th over. A Sinclair 33, A Hill 31 J Sinclair 16 and B French 11 were the best of the bats.

After another week of social bowls last week we come to the end of our bowling year (ladies Section). This week on Thursday, December 14 we host Millmerran for social bowls and fun day. Morning tea will be at 9am or there abouts and the day will potter along from there. Finishing with lunch. On a more serious note Sunday, December 17 11am we will have a special meeting to elect a President, Chairman, and Greens director. This will be followed by lunch, Social Bowls, Christmas celebratio­n, and Raffle is to be drawn. Members are requested to supply sweet food for this occasion.
