Toowoomba lends a hand

LOADS OF LOVE CAMPAIGN | St Stephen’s Uniting Church Hall, 12pm, Wednesday

-

Kirsten McGovern

I MOVED to Toowoomba in 1990 and am currently the fundraising and marketing manager for Lifeline Darling Downs.

I studied a business degree and I’ve had various marketing roles in Toowoomba.

I believe in helping people and Lifeline is the perfect organisation to do that.

What I like about Toowoomba is that it’s becoming a big city with a country heart, and the community-mindedness of its people.

Matt Gregg

I’VE been here in Toowoomba for 16 years and I’ve been working as the manager of Metro Care.

One of the things I love about Toowoomba - I love the community.

In Toowoomba, if you need a hand, there’s always someone to help, and this truly is a really generous community.

And that’s evidenced by what we’re doing here with Loads of Love.

Loads of Love is all about collecting non-perishable food for those doing it tough around Christmas time.

Hundreds and hundreds of families will receive support. It’s incredible.

Tony Crighton

I GREW up on a dairy farm just north of Oakey so I’ve always been in this region.

I went to university here in Toowoomba and got my job at Heritage Bank after university and have been there ever since for the past 25 years.

I enjoyed life on the farm but dad said go out, get a trade, get a ticket, get something behind you. If you want to come back to the land that’s fine.

What do I like about Toowoomba? I just love that Toowoomba’s still got that country feel, community feel. It’s a beautiful city to look at and live in.

Danny Clifford

I’M A director of Clifford Gouldson lawyers.

I have three children aged 9, 11 and 13.

I came from Brisbane originally, about 13 years ago, for both a job and for family.

Moving here was one of those things. We were only intending to come up for two years and we’re still here.

What I like about Toowoomba? There’s a few things.

One is the environment, but also the community programs like (Loads of Love).

I think it is genuinely a community that provides as much support to each other as we possibly can.

Toowoomba has grown up significantly in the past few years and I think that’s primarily driven by investment in the airport, QIC building, those types of things.
