DIY light-up holiday cards

When: Today (Monday, December 18) – 10am to 11am Where: Toowoomba City Library, Herries Street, Toowoomba

Cost: Contact library

Join the fun of making your own light-up holiday cards using LEDs, copper tape and coin cell batteries (they’ll make a great present for mum and dad). The morning is open to ages 8+ years, but please be aware that bookings are essential.

Kloud9ine

When: All week – from 10am Where: Bernoth Centre, 663 Ruthven St, South Toowoomba Cost: Contact Kloud9ine

Get ready for a great time bouncing, soaring, twirling and flying through the air as you take on the many challengin­g zones and fun games at Kloud9ine in the Bernoth Centre.

Organise a party with a great selection of eats or simply meet up with your friends and have a ball.

Meet the Characters of PJ Masks

When: Wednesday, December 20 – Character appearance times: 10am to 10.30am, 11am to 11.30am and noon to 12.30pm Where: Grand Central Shopping Centre, Level 1 Centre Court

Cost: Free

Have your cameras at the ready, and come meet Catboy, Owlette and Gecko. Popular heroes, who swoop into action at night (and solve mysteries during the day) who are on a mission to make things right for everyone in the world.

Darling Downs Zoo

When: Open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9am to 4pm.

Where: 21 Baines Rd, Pilton. Cost: Adults $35, Children (3-15) $21, Concession (pensioner or student) $28, Family Pass (2 adults and 2 kids) $95 (each extra child is $17 each)

Fancy a day at the zoo? With a great variety of daily events, you can meet baby crocodiles, Asian monkeys, South American birds, meerkats, a giraffe and even an African lion. There’s plenty of free parking, so bring the family.

Ravensbour­ne National Park

When: Open 24 hours a day. Where: From Toowoomba or Crows Nest, turn off the New England Highway at Hampton and head east towards Esk for 17 km to the park turnoff. Cost: Free

Pull on your hiking boots and a wide-brimmed hat and experience panoramic views as you walk in the rainforest or go birdwatchi­ng.

Enjoy a bush picnic while you take in the stunning palm-filled creeks and eucalypt forests around you, as well as an amazing array of native birdlife.

Beat the heat

When: Weekends and school holidays (check with the centre for exact opening times)

Where: The Milne Bay Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Herries Street, Toowoomba

Cost: Entry fees do apply Come have a splash around in any of the centre’s amazing pools this summer. The tough part will be choosing from the outdoor 50m pool, the indoor 25m pool and toddler's pool, the Wave pool and inflatable­s or the waterslide.
