Thousands raised from golf day

-

A RECORD $100,000 raised at this year’s Heritage Charity Golf Day has pushed total donations to close to $760,000 in the event’s 20-year history.

Heritage Bank celebrated its 20th Annual Heritage Charity Golf Day at the City Golf Club earlier this month, with more than 200 members of the local business community teeing off for a great cause.

Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock said traditionally funds raised from the day were distributed to organisations across the Toowoomba region.

“However this year, to mark the 20-year milestone, we have broadened that to include beneficiaries from right around southern Queensland,” Mr Lock said.

“I am absolutely thrilled and proud to announce that this year’s event has raised close to $100,000 for deserving charities. That is by far the largest amount we have ever raised in a single golf day.

“That’s a truly remarkable effort which showcases Heritage’s commitment to giving back to the community in as many ways as we can.”

Mr Lock said the funds raised would help a huge number of local organisations continue doing fantastic work in making the community a better place.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors, some of whom have supported the event from the very beginning, our players and of course, our volunteer golf day committee whose efforts continue to make this event such a success each year.”

The Heritage Charity Golf Day has now raised close to $760,000 with every cent going back into the community in the forms of grants to 94 different community and charity organisations.

This year’s beneficiaries are 4 Aussie Heroes, Animal Welfare League Queensland Inc, Hear and Say, iSEE CARE, METRO Care Toowoomba, Night Ninjas Inc, Oakey Mens Inc, Redcliffe SES Support Group, Scope Club of Allora Inc, Sunnykids, Toowoomba Community Care Transport and Toowoomba PCYC.

Heritage will present the funds to the beneficiaries in a special presentation early next year.
