Aloisi to stay true to beliefs at Roar

No style change for coach

-

John Aloisi says he will not be changing the way his team plays despite Brisbane Roar’s less than satisfactory first half of the A-League season.

The Roar takes on Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium tonight sitting ninth on the ladder with 10 points and a last-start loss to Melbourne Victory.

Aloisi conceded that his team’s form had not been good enough but was sticking to his guns when it comes to his philosophy.

“The two years before this season, we were up the top,” Aloisi said.

“It’s been a difficult start. It happens to every team, every coach. It’s how you get through it.

“You can’t veer away from your belief and your way of playing and we’re not doing that.

“You saw a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old come on and they played to our structure and they performed really well against Melbourne Victory, who have got a lot of experienced players.

“That’s only because they believe in what we’re doing, they believe in our structures and it’s the same with the older players.

“It’s just keep on going, keep with that belief and things will turn.

“I’ve got no issues, I’ve got no worries that thing are going to turn,’’ Aloisi said. “I know they will.”

Star Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen has been missing for a fair chunk of the season with a hamstring injury.

He played 26 minutes against the Victory last week and Aloisi said he had considered starting the 34-year-old. “It is something that we have to think about,” he said.

“It looks like he should be ready to start, and then we can see how long he plays for.”

Glory midfielder Brandon Wilson said last week’s 1-0 success over Wellington Phoenix was hopefully the start of a run of good form after an up-and-down start to the campaign.

“I wouldn’t say we were going through a rough patch but we weren’t getting the results we deserved from our performances,” Wilson told a-league.com.au.

“I think we can turn it around now.

“We’re playing really good football.”
