RUPERT Bevan saw something he wanted to achieved, worked hard and is now one of just 20 accepted into a prestigious acting course.

Rupert was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Acting for the next three years. After graduating from Toowoomba Grammar in 2016, he moved to Melbourne to do a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Melbourne.

However Rupert knew immediately it was not for him and spent the year preparing for his VCA audition. There was 750 who applied for the course with auditions happening in Australia and Singapore.

“It is like any school, whether it is high school or university, you have got to go for what fits you and what teaching will enable you to do the best,” he said.

Rupert was on holiday with his family in New York when he got his acceptance call - but he didn’t answer not knowing the number and being overseas.

After a few more missed calls and a message from the head of acting, Rupert realised his fate was just a phone call away.

“It was the outcome I was dreaming of and it felt very surreal,” he said.

“I have done a lot of work in the theatre - my first stage role was when I was 10 at the Empire Theatre. I played the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.”

Rupert said as long as he was sharing his passion and engaging with people he would be happy - working across theatre, film and television.

“I think it is something that everyone should really do if you want something is really go for it and give it everything you have got.”
