Heat stick with tested performers

-

The Brisbane Heat will stick with a winning combination for this week’s round of the Rebel Women’s Big Bash League in Melbourne.

Brisbane released the same 13 player squad that accounted for the Perth Scorchers at Allan Border Field last week for their matches against the Melbourne Renegades.

The Heat take on the Renegades today at Camberwell before heading to Etihad Stadium tomorrow for their WBBL/BBL double header alongside the BBL Heat.

Heat coach Peter McGiffin said the team’s bowlers had laid the platform for the win over the previously unbeaten Perth.

“We improved pretty markedly between the first loss to Perth and then the win, so we are looking to build further on that this weekend in Melbourne,” he said.

McGiffin said he was encouraged by the batting efforts of allrounders Deandra Dottin and Warwick product Delissa Kimmince (pictured) in the opening matches of the WBBL.

“They’ve both shown their class so far and it’s up to us now to build on that,” he said.

The squad: 10. Kirby Short (c), 15. Jemma Barsby, 23. Haidee Birkett, 5. Deandra Dottin, 9. Holly Ferling, 4. Laura Harris, 22. Courtney Hill, 58. Sammy Jo Johnson,

21. Jess Jonassen, 11. Delissa Kimmince, 6. Beth Mooney,

16. Georgia Prestwidge, 14. Laura Wolvaardt. 12th to be named and one omitted.
