Jadentom out to wrap up Xmas box for supporters

- Glen McCullough glenm@thechronicle.com.au

Lightly raced Toowoomba mare Jadentom has the chance to deliver her patient connections an early Christmas box when she looks to continue her winning return to racing at Clifford Park tomorrow.

Jadentom lines up for trainer Lindsay Hatch in the Shannon Sign Company Class 2 Handicap (1200m) where she’ll be partnered by in-form apprentice Baylee Nothdurft.

The four-year-old’s racing career has been restricted so far to just four starts for two wins including her latest when resuming in a Gold Coast Class 1 (900m) on December 2.

At her only Clifford Park appearance, Jadentom downed a 1200-metre Three-Year-Old Maiden field in January this year by 71⁄2 lengths.

Niggling setbacks have limited her to just two runs since, but Hatch is confident Jadentom is back on top of her game for this week’s assignment.

“She has a low immune system and seems to pick up any little bugs that are around,” Hatch said.

“She pulled up a bit ordinary after her first-up win at the Gold Coast and that’s why it’s been a few weeks between runs.

“We give her time to get over it, but she jumped out last week and she seems to be back to 100 per cent.

“The vet’s happy with her and I’m happy with her.

“We’re pretty excited about her and she should be suited in this race.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how she performs.”

The Hatch stable also saddles debutant Umawinner in the Neil Mansell Concrete QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate (1000m).

“She’s shown us that she’s pretty smart, but she’s been a difficult horse to train,” Hatch said.

“Hopefully everything comes together well for her on Saturday.”

Umawinner was a late scratching on vet’s advice at Kilcoy on December 2 when she was due to make her race debut.

Last-start Clifford Park winner Teeroys Tribute faces his next home-track test when he tackles tomorrow’s Queensland Electrical Solutions Class 5 Handicap (1050m).

Teeroys Tribute scored a return Benchmark 65 (1050m) win on December 9 for trainer Eric Ropiha and jockey Kenji Yoshida to take his Clifford Park win record to four from nine starts.

Toughest for the five-year-old to beat tomorrow looks to include Well Sighted, You Say No Way and Sandrelli.

TOOWOOMBA apprentice Rebecca Goldsbury will continue riding under a stay of proceedings after lodging an appeal this week against a two-month suspension.

WARWICK Turf Club hosts a six-race TAB meeting on Boxing Day starting at 1.43.
