QBL side wants players Session to focus on women
With a focus on producing competitive State and Queensland Basketball League women’s squads, the Toowoomba Mountaineers have kick-started their training.
Members of the training squad are already back on court but the team is eager to welcome more players into the fold.
Toowoomba Mountaineers Ltd committee member Peter Rookas said interested players should attend tonight’s training.
The 6.30pm session at St Mary’s College stadium is an opportunity for players to put their skills on display.
“A lot of the girls are showing real passion and energy - they’re happy to be back on court,” Rookas said.
“But we’re still keen to look at any players interested in playing SBL or QBL this season.
“Members of the TML coaching panel will be in attendance to look at current and new players.”
A number of current under-18 and open squad players have been asked to
attend the training session.
Off the court the TML board is assessing candidates for the women’s QBL coaching role.
“We have a number of promising candidates,” Rookas said.
“Expressions of interest close January 12 and we hope to announce the coach soon after.
“In the interim it’s business as usual with coaching director Harry Spencer planning sessions.”
