18 hour play project perfect way to end school holidays

-

THE highly popular workshop series, the 18 Hour Play Project returns this month to give students the chance to explore their creative sides before the end of the school holidays.

Over 18 hours across three days students will use improvisation, performance skills and their own imaginations to create a short piece for performance.

Empire Theatres Youth Arts Director Ari Palani said the 18 Hour Play Project was a unique challenge that stretches the skills and abilities of our local young creatives to new limits in a fun and interesting way.

“Now the project is in it’s seventh year, has proven to be the perfect balance between breaking that holiday boredom and diving in to a new creative year,” Mr Palani said.

“We have seen groups of strangers quickly become family across the three days in past years and firmly believe the community aspect of the project is just as important as the artistic,” he said.

“Participants will learn what it takes to rehearse and create a performance from scratch and confidently deliver it in a time tight challenge.

“We proudly deliver The 18-Hour Play project locally in Toowoomba, but also take to other regions including Mitchell and Charleville amongst others and we will be looking to continue delivering that in order to enliven our young people outside the major centres.”

The 18 Hour Play Projects begins from 10am, Tuesday, January 16.

Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.
