A TOOWOOMBA mother of three found with more than 100g of marijuana and a “marijuana cake” that she admitted baking has been placed on probation to help her kick the habit.

A police search of Sarah Beth McGarry’s Darling Heights home on November 30, last year, had turned up a total 111.446g of marijuana in various containers as well as a marijuana cake in a tupperware container in a cupboard.

Police prosecutor Christie Mahoney told Toowoomba Magistrates Court police had also found a vapouriser on the 36-year-old woman’s dressing table that she admitted was used for smoking the drug.

Police also found a set of scales used to weigh the drug, Senior Constable Mahoney said.

McGarry pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous drug, possessing a drug-related utensil and possessing a set of scales used in the commission of a drug offence.

Her solicitor Jag MacDonald (MacDonald Law) told the court his client had no previous criminal history at all.

His client had separated from her husband and was now a single mother who was medicated for depression, he said.

Magistrate Damian Carroll told McGarry hers was very serious offending.

“This is pretty serious offending for a number of reasons,” he said.

“I’m absolutely convinced (the children) know their mum’s using drugs.”

Mr Carroll placed McGarry on 12 months probation to include random testing for illicit substances but ordered the convictions not be recorded.
