STORE manager Tracey Turnbull may be new to Oz Design Furniture, but she said it was like coming home.

Having worked at Toowoomba’s now-closed House and Garden for 14 years, it is well and truly her speciality.

“I worked at House and Garden for about 14-plus years here in town and was devastated when they closed,” she said.

“So when Oz Design came up I jumped at the chance to join the team.

“It is like coming back home.”

Oz Design Furniture is new for Toowoomba having only opened on December 21 in the old Masters turned Home Consortium on Hume St.

“Basically it is a bit different to Toowoomba. Something new and exciting,” she said.

“There is a lot of Australian-made products which have been really hugely popular in our first week.

“So hopefully the support for Australian made will continue.”

Oz Design Furniture has 32 stores across in the country in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Canberra.

The company knew Toowoomba would be a great market for it, with many customers from the city having shopped at its Brisbane locations.

She believed the Toowoomba store was filling a gap in the Toowoomba market for a wider range of modern and Australian-made furniture.

“We do everything from floor rugs to decor. We have all your dining tables and chairs, lounge suits, occasional chairs,” she said.

“We have had a lot of customers from out west as well so we have been able to have a lot of phone orders as well as online and we deliver right around the country.”

Ms Turnbull said the location of the store as a part of the new Home Consortium was also great creating a one-stop shop for all things furniture and homewares.

“It is going to be brilliant when it is all completely filled and we are all a little bit different to each other so it will give Toowoomba and the surrounding areas a huge variety to choose from,” she said.

Oz Design Furntiure as so far been joined by Nick Scali Furniture and Early Settler as well as Toys R Us.
