Supercamp celebrates milestone

-

When Pop Dickerson speaks – young basketballers listen.

Dickerson has taught thousands of young basketballers at his always popular Supercamps.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Supercamp, Dickerson said the recipe for success was simple.

“It’s about respect. Respect for yourself and respect for everyone around you,” he said.

“We offer more than just basketball. Part of what we do at Supercamp is helping young boys develop into young men.

“We offer a positive message, leadership and guidance.”

surprised Dickerson yesterday, forming a large 30, and cheering as the humble coach entered the Harristown High School basketball stadium.

It was another fantastic memory in a life that has provided so many memories for the former Toowoomba Mountaineers star.

“The reason I stopped playing state basketball was because everywhere I went players would say ‘hey Pop I was at your camp’,” he joked.

“This week I was talking to a grandmother who told me her son loved playing at Supercamp, now she is bringing his son here.

“That’s something really special for me. We’ve seen so many people here (at Supercamp), from young kids who just love the game to NBL and Australian Boomers stars.

“Basketball is a beautiful game and you can play it for life.”
