He is known back home in the States as the “The Human Highlight Reel” and he will soon add Hi-Tech Oils Toowoomba Speedway to his package.

American sprintcar ace Geoff Ensign has returned to Australia for a third time, but this will be a trip with a difference when he adds Toowoomba to his travel itinerary next month.

The 28-year-old California resident will become the first American sprintcar driver to compete at Toowoomba Speedway since 2010 when he lines up for the Pitstop 50 on February 17.

Ensign last competed in Australia during 2014 when he racked up three feature wins including the Victorian title at Avalon.

He will compete this trip in a car prepared by Toowoomba’s Terry Black who is hosting his tour.

Ensign will make his 2018 Aussie racing debut at Parramatta Raceway this weekend before winding his way back to Toowoomba to contest the February round of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Queensland.

Ensign had his first look at the Toowoomba circuit on Tuesday afternoon during a brief practice session.

“We’re running the World Series Sprintcars and we’re heading down to Parramatta to race Friday and Saturday night,” Ensign said.

“Hopefully we can have a good run and show what we can do.”

Ensign has been impressed in his two previous trips with the passion of Aussie speedway fans he says almost eclipses that of his home crowds.

“The people, the atmosphere — everything here is awesome,” Ensign said.

“I love it. It’s cool.

“I wish I could come back every year — that would be great.”

Ensign is looking forward to adding the Toowoomba circuit to his race catalogue which includes tracks throughout America.

“This place is nice. It’s a nice facility,” Ensign said.

“It’s high bank and it’s got to be fast, so I’m looking forward to getting out there.

“I won three races the last time I was here and I’m hoping to get these guys (Terry Black Motorsport) some more wins this year.

“I think we’ll be pretty good and hopefully we can put on a good show.”

The people, the atmosphere — everything here is awesome.
